Alan G. Weinstein

Alan G. Weinstein has been a coach to CEOs and a college professor, business consultant, author, and entrepreneur. He received his PhD in industrial/organizational psychology from Wayne State University and has held professorships at Carnegie Mellon University, Oakland University, and Canisius University, where he was chair of the Management and Marketing Departments. At Canisius, Alan founded the Center for Entrepreneurship, the Institute for Family Business, and Entrepreneurs on Campus. With one of his students, he cofounded Lasertron, an Amherst, New York, entertainment company that manufactures and operates laser-tag court games.

In 1992, Alan started the first The Executive Committee/Vistage group in upstate New York and has chaired groups of CEOs, key managers, emerging leaders, advancing leaders, and trusted advisors. He has served on several boards, including those of Perry’s Ice Cream, Lasertron, Stride Tool, and Ciminelli Development. Alan also facilitated a collaboration with not-for-profit cultural organizations, helping them improve their financial health while allowing them to flourish artistically.  

His work with entrepreneurs has been recognized by several organizations, including the prestigious Edwin A. Appel Award from Babson College. As a teacher, Alan was twice selected Outstanding Professor by Canisius College MBA students.

His research is published in several academic and professional journals, and for several years he coauthored a column titled “The Owner and Coach” in Buffalo Business First. He published his first book, Executive Coaching and the Process of Change, in 2013. He has since published three other books: Unleashing Human Energy through Culture Change, Healthy Culture, Healthy Business, and My America. 

When not working, Alan is traveling, skiing, jogging, working out at the gym, and spending quality time with friends.
